Context-based advertising

A targeting model that places ads adjacent to relevant content rather than at specific users. The signal is the context (channel topic, page subject, language, geo) — not the demographic or behavioural profile of an individual. Canonical example: Telegram Ads serving sponsored messages inside niche channels. Strength: privacy-preserving, cheap CPMs, creates demand. Weakness: lower individual targeting precision than intent-based or behavioural models. Telegram Ads was built on this principle, but the euro cabinet now also targets by interests and retargets your own subscribers; since 28 August 2026 ads.telegram.org promises only that it does not use private chats or contact lists for ad targeting.
