How it works
Telegram is a closed messaging platform with one official ad surface. Sponsored messages appear inside public channels and certain bot dialogues, billed through one of three cabinets. The four steps below describe what happens between a brand booking an ad and a user seeing it.
Advertisers book through Telegram Ads Manager. Three billing rails: TON (crypto, minimum 1 TON, ~30% revenue share to channel owners), EUR Ads Cabinet (fiat, official EUR billing) and Telegram Stars / XTR (in-app currency, mostly for cashier apps and Premium giveaways). Same booking UI, same targeting options — only the wallet differs.
Advertisers pick country + language + an optional list of specific channels or topics. There is no individual-user targeting (Telegram never exposes user data to advertisers). Frequency caps limit how often the same user sees the same creative.
The creative is a single message that appears at the bottom of a channel feed or inside a bot dialogue. Components: title, body text, accent color, optional photo or video, optional CTA button. Total displayed time is 10–30 seconds per impression; user can dismiss or report.
Telegram reports impressions, click-through and "channels reached" through the Ads Manager. There is no individual user-level analytics. Third-party measurement (our archive included) observes the public ad surface from regular Telegram accounts and tags ads by content/CTA/payment-source.
Three cabinets serve the same ad platform but differ in billing, minimums, payout and typical advertiser. Pick the one that matches your budget and creative type.

Frequently asked questions
Depends on cabinet. TON: starts at ~1 TON (~$3–6) per booking, CPMs $0.50–8 by country/niche. EUR Ads Cabinet: €2,000 minimum top-up, CPMs €1–5 in EU markets. Stars / cashier: variable per app/product; some giveaways from 100 Stars.
No. Telegram explicitly does not expose user-level data to advertisers. You can target by country, language and channel-list. Lookalike audiences, retargeting and individual user IDs do not exist on Telegram Ads.
A single sponsored message format with title + body text + optional photo or video + optional CTA button. No carousel, no story, no in-message video autoplay outside the cashier vertical. The cashier vertical adds two specialised formats: paid-media invoices and Premium giveaways.
At the bottom of public channel feeds (Pipeline A in our taxonomy) and inside certain bot dialogues (Pipeline B). Never inside private chats or invite-only channels. Premium users do not see ads.

Telegram Stars (XTR) invoices, paid-media offers and Premium giveaways. These are ads that trigger an in-app payment flow instead of an external website. Concentrated in mini-app advertisers, gaming bots, creator-economy products. See /cashier and the glossary entry.
Depends on your audience and creative. TON cabinet is cost-effective for crypto/trading verticals where the audience already holds crypto wallets — clickthrough on TON-paid ads in those niches outperforms most other channels. EUR cabinet is more expensive but reaches a broader audience. The /trending and /analytics pages on Telegram Ads Spy show which advertisers spend repeatedly — repeat-spenders is the strongest signal that the channel is working for them.
